Overview


The Everest Base Camp Trek: One of the popular, iconic and breath-taking trekking routes of world is Everest Base Camp Trek. It is situated in Khumbu region of Nepal, which gives you a view of beautiful landscape, Sherpa villages, snow-capped view of world highest peak i.e. Mount Everest.

The Trek basically starts with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a beautiful village that is gateway to the Everest region. From Lukla, trekker being their trekking passing through various villages, dense forest of covered with pine and rhododendron, suspension bridges, rivers and narrow path. Although the trekking route is physically challenging, the culturally furnished villages in the way always provide a kind of energy to explore more and further ahead. The way of living and tradition have always attracted the trekkers in that region.

As the altitude increases, trekkers also acclimatize giving break from trek for a day at few points which can be placed strategically so that risk of altitude sickness can be reduced. The final point of Everest Base Camp located at height of 5,364m gives a mesmerizing view of different mountains around including mount Everest. Also, the base camp is temporary home for the climbers of Mount Everest where they stay and acclimatize and prepare for expedition.

Helicopter Ride Back:Although the Everest Base Camp trek is one of the million experiences, it is physically extreme and time consuming. So, as an alternative, some trekkers choose to combine experience of trekking adventure along with the helicopter ride back up to Kathmandu or Lukla.

After reaching base camp, the trekkers can have option of riding back to Lukla or Kathmandu through helicopter. The helicopter ride can give a bird view of the route trekked earlier. It gives a beautiful view of all the scene seen earlier one by one at one glance. Also, it saves a huge amount of time taking a helicopter ride.

The helicopter ride is only an option as trek itself is an unique and enriching experience that gives a hearty connection with the communities. Trekkers should consider their fitness level, preferences, and time constraints when deciding on the best approach for their Everest Base Camp adventure.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu to Lukla (Flight) - Trek to Phakding

  • Take an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla.
  • Trek to Phakding (approximately 3-4 hours).
  • Overnight stay in Phakding.

Day 02: Phakding to Namche Bazaar

  • Trek to Namche Bazaar (approximately 6-7 hours).
  • Begin the steep ascent towards Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital.
  • Overnight stay in Namche Bazaar.

Day 03: Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar

  • Acclimatization hike to Everest View Hotel or explore around Namche.
  • Opportunity to visit the Sherpa Museum and learn about the local culture.
  • Overnight stay in Namche Bazaar.

Day 04: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche

  • Trek to Tengboche (approximately 5-6 hours).
  • Visit the famous Tengboche Monastery with panoramic mountain views.
  • Overnight stay in Tengboche.

Day 05: Tengboche to Dingboche

  • Trek to Dingboche (approximately 5-6 hours).
  • The trail offers stunning views of Ama Dablam and other peaks.
  • Overnight stay in Dingboche.

Day 06: Acclimatization Day in Dingboche

  • Acclimatization hike to higher altitudes.
  • Enjoy the views and spend the day adjusting to the altitude.
  • Overnight stay in Dingboche.

Day 07: Dingboche to Lobuche

  • Trek to Lobuche (approximately 5-6 hours).
  • The trail gets more rugged and the altitude increases.
  • Overnight stay in Lobuche.

Day 08: Lobuche to Gorak Shep - Everest Base Camp

  • Trek to Gorak Shep and then continue to Everest Base Camp (approximately 7-8 hours round trip).
  • Reach the base of the world's highest peak, Mount Everest.
  • Return to Gorak Shep for an overnight stay.

Day 09: Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar - Fly Back by Helicopter

  • Early morning hike to Kala Patthar for sunrise views (optional).
  • Take a helicopter ride back to Lukla or Kathmandu.
  • Enjoy aerial views of the Himalayas one last time.
  • End of trekking adventure.
